Progress Report [interior Design]

A little living room update here. So the fireplace dilemma here was solved. Birch logs via Craigslist. Shocked? I didn't think so. So here is the latest look:

And this is what still bothers me:
-The off-centered "C" needs some family up there. Noted.
-The Cadice Olsen sconces I HAD to have well I'm thinking they need a make-over. And they look about 6" too high still. We lowered the terrible bronze lights that were here when we moved in (YES they were even higher!). If the make-over doesn't work to make their placement look better then plan C (which hasn't been hatched yet) will be at the top of my list.
-It could use a coffee table (glass?)
-Ready for this? The mantle. And the hearth. Read that in a whisper so my husband doesn't hear you.

If the furniture looks familiar it's because they are PROPS. Slight storage issues around here but I'm not that mad about it lately. I kinda like something about it. I'm more of the left side than the right but I've always loved old-meets-new. I added these pillows to the Victorian couch to update it. They were meant for the master bedroom but I'm still on the hunt for the perfect bedding. Entering year 6 now on that topic. Anyway...

Wall Fun [interior Design]

Magnetic wallpaper!!! As a mother of a 2 year old I now get even more excited when design can be fun for my little man...and me. Oh but this isn't your big box wallpaper. Pause. Breathe Angela. It's gorgeous in a vintage romantic way. There is so much fun and creativity are radiating from Sian Zeng. Awesomeness right down to the website!! Check. It. Out.

the pig is a magnet :)

My husband will not understand this because we spent many many many many hours freeing our walls from bad (really bad) early 90's wallpaper but you get it right? I think I'm more excited about the unique graphics than the magnetic part -that's just the cherry on top. What do you think???

Chair [interior Design]

As a designer I understand when other designers push the envelope and create things that may seem different for the sake of being different. It's all about pushing the imagination, envelope, etc., etc., blah, blah, blah. When I came across this chair called Pages by 6474 it was one of those things that made me stop to think about form over function and different for the sake of being different. This chair is a conversation piece. You can't tell me someone will buy this to actually sit in for more than 1 minute. However, it did make me stop to think about the design and to post about it. I do like the flexibility in the color, seat height, and back. I'm always up for a good conversation piece AND if one wanted it doesn't seem too hard to DIY with an old chair.

I'm sure someone may use this design as a platform for the next best something or other (also part of the envelope pushing). What are your thoughts??
