What's a Party without Music? [PROPS]
Well it's usually more fun with some music but this music-less radio would still be a good time in a photo shoot (reminder: you can't hear a photo). This fun distressed antique radio got a make-over and some lipo. It was too heavy with the original guts so the parts went to an antique restorer who will bring some other old radio new life. Now it has plenty of room to house an ipod docking station if you really want to crank the tunes at the shoot.

Humor in the Interior World
This craigslist post made me laugh outloud so I had to share:
I actually just flipped through my new Pottery Barn catalog and found nothing of the sort. Good effort though craigslister. Good effort. It made me look.

Stuff.
This is pretty cute for all those pencil using photographers or even if you aren't a photographer it's still pretty cute in that vintage collector kinda way.
Did somebody say "recycled"? This is a funky good looking AND you could stick a baby in it! It's a LindO two for one.

Chicago C-list [PROPS]
A New York State of Mind [interior Design]
The Big Apple is a City that never ceases to inspire. A couple hot spots caught my eye for good creative interior design. The first was Gold Bar in Little Italy. The seating is plush, dark, and comfortable so it only makes sense that the walls are covered in gold skulls ;)

Beautiful crystal chandeliers with a dash of antiquely strange art and a contemporary look create the hip atmosphere. It's a small lounge with a lot of impact. Great place to relax, hear some good music, and get inspired to think outside the box.
Next stop was Beauty & Essex on the Lower East Side. When I heard that they serve pink champagne in the bathroom I knew it was a place for me even though I'm not really a pink kinda girl. The entry is disguised as a pawn shop - very New York
That door in the back of the "shop" leads to the club/restaurant and it is beautiful
The bathrooms were GORG with snakeskin wallcovering that looked like lace on the wall and had a nice little bartender ready with the pink champagne ready for you.
both a must see!

We're taking a trip [PROPS]
So we are taking a trip to the Big Apple this weekend and it got us thinking about the luggage situation. Not just about the extra fees but how great luggage can be for a prop. So here's what we've acquired:
The brown leather seen above is brand new and fresh for a precious little one. The one on the bottom we would call a little grungier - perfect combo and character for photo!
Aaaaaaaaand we have these for a little retro feel:

Mr.M80
Architecture + reusing + creative recycling = what I love. A local artist Michael Dion mixes those ingredients together to create some interesting art. He calls himself Mr.M80 and he’s been doing it for a while now. Never to step foot into an abandoned house nor to take away from the exterior architecture Dion strictly keeps to the curbside wherever he goes. Door knockers, doll heads, tanning goggles, and old spoons come together to create his art.
LindO took a little trip to the Russell Bazaar in Detroit where Dion has his studio. I greeted him with an antique bulb digger and you could see his mind working the second he laid eyes on it, "this is a good mouth. Those are hard to find." A mouth. Yes of course. That’s what I thought too. Not really but when he said it it made sense.
We walked down the corridor to his spot and he has a pretty good collection of old wooden doors outside his actual door. Many have layers of paint peeling off in a nice antique way. I offered to take some off his hands if he ever needs to get rid of them (they would make really cool tables or backdrops just hanging side by side on a wall). His studio is a gallery in front with a nice show of his work and for a collector of "stuff" his studio is surprisingly neat and organized. The magic happens in the back where he has a worktable and his tools. He let us look around, ask some questions, and take some photos of his work. There is a lot to take in. Many things someone may never look twice at have a home in his art. I picture his studio turning into a grittier version of Toy Story where the art work comes to life after he leaves. I wonder if he ever notices anything out of place…
Dion also paints on some of his found pieces. He has an interesting technique using layers of paint and a razor to produce a negative image on glass (no Detroit jokes necessary). The way the light shines through a variety of paint thicknesses gives the piece some depth (which would read better if the photo was taken with a real camera - sorry).
Mr.M80 Michael Dion can now be found at the RustBelt in Ferndale. You’ll know he’s there if you see a pickup in the parking lot loaded with found objects. Hard to miss. Follow him on Twitter and check out more of his work on flickr.com.

Still on the list [interior Design]
I haven't crossed this off my list yet. This is fresh and contemporary - what I would like my house to be one day.
I have a lot of ideas for my bedroom and I'm not 100% positive this will fit in to the master plan. The master plan still has some holes in it plus some obstacles (i.e. my husband) but at least ideas have formed. My house decor has been put on hold since launching the PROPS side of LindO and frankly this is not at the top of the list but it crossed my path again so I thought I would share.
I'm also liking these...not crazy about the price but finding them interesting. There has GOT to be a DIY somewhere for this though - it's cardboard and plywood for Pete's sake!

One hanging on each side of the bed? Wait - not on the master plan. Focus.
Or Remix...
