Happy Halloween

These are my little guys Trey and Rex. "Trey and Rex" sounds like a cartoon. Anyway, I played with some filters on these images and this is where I left off as Halloween ends in less than half an hour over here and I need to get some rest after a day full of deadlines and wet crabby trick-or-treating kids (Trey). I hope everyone had a good one and that bags are filled with chocolate because chocolate goes great with mom's wine.

Or black and white??

Wait. I'm the football?!?!?!?!?!

Halloween Decor [interior Design]

This year I stepped up the Halloween decorating (which wasn't hard to do since this is all I was working with last year).  I found these 3D Martha Stewart Bats at Michael's and put them in the front entry. When you come in the front door it looks like they are flying at you. Love them.

Then I stuck with the "C" because it just lives on the mantel and it gives good height. I added a spider web from Meijer and a skeleton print. The gold plastic skull was from KROGER for only $5. It started out a grey and black but I put a can of gold spray paint to it.

Which leads me to this gold ceramic skull from ZGallerie. He was $14.95 plus shipping. Can I just say they took a little piece of me when ZGallerie left my local mall? Anyway, this came before my Kroger skull find. Who doesn't tell me they have the perfect skulls at Kroger for cheap?!? The spiders returned from last year and the pumpkins are the real deal. The flowers and moss ribbon are from Michael's as well. I couldn't find cool purple flowers at the local florist and I'm a huge fan of real flowers - boo ;)

So how did I do?

Fireplace Genius

It's getting closer. It has to happen soon for my sanity. You may or may not recall my big plans for my fireplace. I've got a guy and I [kinda] have a plan for this:

Except the paint is going more geometric (but will remain in the same color family). More on that later. So anyway here is why I'm writing - I saw a genious idea. If you recall I went on and on about how to decorate a non fuctioning fire place here. All great ideas. Even greater? This:

Not actually full size logs. Nope. Mind. Blown.

This could be done in the same fashion by just cutting the logs length wise.

I have birch logs in the fireplace now but they don't look at good as the image above. Let's just add that project to the list because this is what I'm working with now:

Can't wait! For the full how-to on the cut logs check out the Pepper blog.

YOUR Child's Art Comes to Life [interior Design]

Coolest. EVER. This company Child's Own Studio brings your child's art off the page and into their hands. I adore this idea.

Not only could this be amazing on the shelves next to the art but a great gift idea as well.  As you can imagine she has a waitlist - kids or no kids get on it!!

Make it a Double [lindO Photography]

Twice the cuteness packed into one afternoon. These little peanuts were born in the 3lb. range and they were about 6+lbs. when I got my hands on them. So sweet. Oh and their parents are big University of Michigan fans :)

Too cute right?
